Plus sized blogger Gabi Gregg probably never dreamed that she would be one of the hottest growing search trends when she called upon other plus-sized ladies to post pictures of themselves in their favorite bikinis as she had done. It has since become known as the “Fatkini.”

Like many things on the web Gabi’s openness has created a little bit of a firestorm after many people claimed that she was advocating unhealthy living by asking others to post their pics. This is what she said on the topic…

Gregg, 25, says she’s not a poster girl for obesity or an unhealthy lifestyle. “I’m all for health,” she told TODAY’s Tamron Hall. “I think people should be really aware of what they’re putting in their bodies and try to get more active. The truth is, we have to live in our bodies and be happy with the bodies we have right now, regardless of where we are in our journey to health.”

How do you feel about the Fatkini uproar?  Do you think that she is acting irresponsibly simply by posting a picture of herself in a bikini or does it show someone with confidence and acceptance of who she is?

Gregg, who is 25 years old, has since fired back at her critics by explaining that she is all about health.  She actually mentioned during a television interview that women should be aware of their bodies and what they are putting in them.

Since she made the call for other women to share their bikini photos, more than 30 women have come forward and been bold enough to share their photos with the online world.  Some of these women will obviously open themselves up for ridicule or abuse but you have to give them credit for not being fearful.

The real question is whether or not the Fatkini gallery empowers women or not.
