One of the most often asked questions by those looking for quick weight loss options is “does colon cleansing help lose weight?” Depending on who you ask, you will always get both sides of the argument.
Ultimately, the best way to get a solid answer is to give it a go for a few days or even a week. It is known to be very safe and really comes down to fasting. Fasting is a process of feeding your body very specific things and avoiding others and has been practiced in many cultures for centuries.
Colon Cleansing and Weight Loss
Colon cleansing is often debated as to whether or not you will lose so called “water weight” or real weight, even though most people are not interested in separating pounds they want to lose into categories. What is seldom debated is that doing a proper cleanse will often result in some kind of substantial weight loss.
However, there are other benefits to cleansing that go beyond losing weight. A well-known doctor decided to bring awareness to the American public on their lack of fiber in their daily diet. He advocated adding corn flakes and cereals in the morning meal. He was actually starting people on the journey of discovering the benefits of colon cleansing.
Benefits of Colon Cleansing
This doctor treated many people who suffered from constipation, diarrhea, bloating, abdominal pain, discomfort, and nausea. Some of them were also diagnosed with colon health problems. These ailments were frequent maladies and he started to advise them to take more fruits and less processed food.
Through the process of time, people began to have less and less of these common ailments and through further education, they discovered they were having regular bowel movements. These regular movementss were believed to have helped in cleaning out their colon and to help rid their bodies of undigested items.
Colon cleansing is an alternative medicine. It uses natural ingredients to detoxify the colon. Three methods discussed here are herbal, liquid, and hydrotherapy.
Types of Natural Colon Cleansing
The herbal procedure works by consuming natural herbs either in capsules or organically for several weeks. The herbs act as a killer of parasites and worms which are found in the colon. The herbs may also act as laxatives and may create a higher than normal frequency of bowel movement. There is often a bigger loss of water than usual. To counter this loss, most are advised drink lots of water.
Liquid colon cleansing makes use of a liquid diet. This diet may last for a week or more. There should be little to no solid food consumed during this period. This liquid diet contains supplements which helps to supply the overall nutrients to the body. The Lemonade Diet is one of the most popular liquid cleanses and has been used by many people to lose weight fast. The herbal colon cleanse may be slightly more popular due to its ease of use.
Hydrotherapy is another more expensive type of colon cleansing and uses a tube inserted into the rectum where a warm liquid is pumped into the colon. This warm liquid is normally infused with various natural ingredients to help flush the colon. This treatment may take between five and seven days. This particular process is not as popular because it cost much more and is normally done via an in-office visit.
All of these methods are designed to help detoxify the body. The colon is the large intestine found in the lower abdomen. Doctors have discovered that the mucoid plaque can weigh as much as 30 pounds. For women, a good colon cleanse may mean a flatter looking stomach.
For colon cleansing, there is always the danger of dehydration. Because of the treatment, a high frequency of bowel movement is expected and water loss is higher than normal. So please drink lots of water.
The benefits of colon cleansing are many. It takes away that heavy feeling in the gut, cleans out the parasites, toxins and fecal matter that lines the walls of the colon, and makes it easier for nutrients to be absorbed by the body.
As you can see, there are many potential benefits to cleansing, but does colon cleansing help lose weight is a question that will continue to be debated over the years. Our evidence and research shows that it does help to give you a jump start in your weight loss. As mentioned earlier, the best solution is to find a safe herbal colon cleanser and see how it works for you.
When it comes to the stomach, some people say crunches for belly fat are the way to make it disappear. Others say crunches are a complete waste of time and effort. So which is it? We see people in the gym doing hundreds of crunches and situps and wonder if we should be doing the same? Or perhaps you are one of the ones doing all those crunches and thinking it might not be worth it.
Lose Belly Fat with Cardio
The truth is, crunches and situps will not make you lose belly fat that you can see in your stomach. They may do something for the visceral fat that lies deep in your abdomen and surrounds your organs, but for the jiggly, bumpy subcutaneous belly fat (right under your skin), the only thing that will work to help you lose that is cardio and aerobic activity.
Do I Have to Do Crunches then?
Now does this mean you should stop doing crunches altogether? Absolutely not! In fact, doing them will ensure that once you do lose the flab, you will already have some nice muscles built up to show for it. So clean, healthy living and eating, cardio and aerobic activity and working your abdominal muscles can help you get the stomach you want.
Where to Find a Good Exercise Plan
For some great exercises to help you get rid of belly fat and get the six pack abs you want, Mike Geary has put together a really nice package with some unconventional workouts that really do work. His plan can prevent you from doing hundreds of crunches for belly fat.
Jillian Michaels 30 Day shred is a plan offered by the very popular trainer from the television show The Biggest Loser. In this program, she helps you to lose up to 20 pounds in 30 days.
If you are like many of us looking to lose a few pounds, you want to see results sooner rather than later. As a matter of fact, seeing slow results is one of the greatest reasons for giving up. That’s why finding a product like the 30 Day Shred can be helpful.
What’s In It:
3-20 Minute Circuit Training Workouts
Workouts Based on Jillians Strength/Cardio/Ab Training Circuit
If you are having a hard time losing those unwanted pounds, Jillian Michaels is a great mentor to have because she is someone who has been where you are. Despite her now chiseled body, she was overweight for many years and that’s why her passion to help others to get healthy is so strong.
Many of us are most successful when we see fast results. The routine in the 30 Day Shred is designed to give you those rapid results with high intensity workouts that can be completed in a short 20 minutes.
Ultimately, products like the 30 Day Shred are not the magic bullet to helping you lose weight. However, as we have advocated before, it is always great to find a mentor or role model as you strive to hit your weight loss goals. Luckily, you have access to one of the best via her DVDs, newsletter and other systems.
The way to lose weight fast and easy is to make a plan and to stick to it. You have probably heard the saying before that “if you fail to plan-you plan to fail.” This is especially true when it comes to losing weight.
Many people have full intentions of finally losing weight but they go after it in a haphazard kind of way. This is not going to work in most circumstances. Mainly because you lose track and end up reverting back to normal habits and behaviors that you have been doing for years.
So, the way to lose weight is to sit down and write out a simple plan. It does not have to be anything overly complicated. Let’s take a look at some of the basics and where you might want to start.
Monthly Food Calendar
One of the best things you can do when it comes to losing weight is to take a close look at what you are eating each day. You probably already know that the general rule is to burn off more calories than you consume.
A good way to make this part of your diet plan less stressful is to come up with a weekly or monthly schedule of what you are going to eat. Needless to say, this list should not and cannot contain unhealthy choices like McDonald’s and other fast food options.
Instead, you want to come up with healthy choices that you will enjoy eating on a regular basis. There are plenty of web sites out there that offer healthy recipes and menus or you can pick up a book from your local bookstore. If you want to check online, just go to google.com and type in “healthy recipes” or something similar to that.
It is not uncommon for some people to spend the majority of their time focusing on exercise when it comes to dropping pounds, but what you eat is obviously a key factor to lose weight fast.
The Way to Lose Weight By Exercising
It may sound like common sense that exercise is a great way to lose weight but it is also one of the fastest ways for you to get discouraged. If you don’t see quick results, stopping your daily exercise routine is one of the first things that will happen.
Here are some quick tips to keep you on track:
- Be diverse. Don’t do the same old things day after day. It’s important to switch it up.
- Find an activity that you enjoy that is physical (tennis, dog walking, bike riding, basketball, etc.)
- Determine the best exercise time for you. Some people like mornings while others prefer evening workouts.
Find A Mentor
One of the golden rules when it comes to being successful with anything is to find someone to model and follow. It is the easiest way to avoid wasted time and to make sure that you are doing the right things to accomplish your goals.
Who is your favorite chef on television that can teach you healthy meals? Do you ever read or watch segments from Dr. Oz that discuss ways to be healthy? There are tons of choices out there but find someone that you can relate to and use their experience to speed up your progress.
If you spend any time watching television, you have undoubtedly heard of Jillian Michaels weight loss and her success on the Biggest Loser show. She loves to help other people and is one of our top choices for learning what it takes to lose weight.
You know it’s time to get belly fat off for good when you look down and all you see is the flabby tire around your midsection. Is it popping out over your jeans? Does it make the zipper hard to pull up lately? We have all been there and know how frustrating it can be to get the belly fat gone for good.
Points to remember when working on the midsection:
- Any whole body exercises you can think of will help to lose belly fat so keep MOVING!
- Situps and crunches wont lose the fat, but they will help build the muscles so you have a nice look once the fat is gone.
- Track what you are eating. Use either MyDailyPlate.com or Fitday.com to track your calories, sodium, sugar, fat and carbs. You might be amazed at how a “little bit here and there” adds up to excess calories.
- Eat healthy. I one time went to Whole Foods and just watched to see what the “healthy people” were buying. They have places where you can sit right by the registers and see everything. Then go to regular grocery store and compare. Healthy, lean people eat healthy things. Greens, vegetables, fruits and lean protein are the building blocks for great abs.
- Find a belly fat burning program to keep you on track and focused. Use a plan that was designed by a certified trainer and has proven results so you can be successful and get belly fat off!
Cooking kale to add nutrition to your diet can sometimes be a little tricky for those who have never had to prepare it before. It’s dark crunchy leaves and somewhat bitter taste can sometimes turn people off before they have really experienced everything it has to offer. This article will give you some tips on how to prepare kale and add it to your meals to get all the benefits of one of the world’s most nutritious vegetables.
First of all, some background info on kale. It is one of the most nutritionally dense foods, meaning you get a ton of vitamins and minerals for very few calories. One cup of kale has 36 calories but is loaded with things like vitamin K, vitamin C, and vitamin A. Kale also includes manganese, copper, calcium, fiber, vitamin B6, potassium, iron and even Omega 3 Fatty Acids. So there is a lot of bang for your calorie buck! Studies of diets high in vegetables like kale continue to show associations with decreased occurrences of cancers such as colon, lung, breast and bladder.
Not to mention what it can do to help you lose belly fat! With a low caloric intake, you can get a good batch of fiber from kale which will help you feel fuller. This can keep you from overindulging and keep that tummy trim.
Now on to cooking kale. Here are some quick and easy recipes and tips to add more kale to your diet.
- Steam in the microwave (place clean kale leaves in a colander over a glass bowl with about 2 cups of water in it, cover top of colander with plastic wrap) or you can do this same method on the stove top with a metal colander. You may find you have to cook the kale leaves a little bit longer because the leaves are quite thick. It usually takes about 3-5 minutes. Sprinkle with anything from garlic, to reduced fat Parmesan cheese, to apple cider vinegar. Serve hot.
- Take several leaves equal to approximately one cup worth and chop very, very finely. Add to your favorite salad. You can add to a salad with deep flavors like mustard, pepper, etc and it compliments it nicely. Or you can add kale to a fruity type of salad with mandarin oranges, apples, or strawberries for a bitter/sweet grassy flavor. This is the best way to introduce kale into your diet because you will barely notice it’s there.
- Finely chop kale leaves and add to stews, soups and pasta. Again, if you chop finely, you will hardly know it’s there. One cup should do it!
- Bake kale leaves in a glass pan in the oven. Add 1/4 cup of organic chicken stock, chopped apples, balsamic vinegar and walnuts. Bake at 350 F for about 20 minutes.
- Saute’ in a pan with garlic, lemon juice (fresh) and a touch of olive oil. The leaves do wilt nicely and the color is amazing so it looks great on the plate when serving.
- Bake a 100% whole wheat Boboli pizza crust until almost done. Remove from oven and spread 4 Laughing Cow wedges all over pizza (this is your “sauce”). Then add onions, steamed kale, peppers, and any other vegetables you would like. Bake entire pizza at 450 F for 5 minutes. Yum!

A new study out shows that older women need more exercise to maintain and lose their weight, specifically, one hour of moderate exercise for women who are not dieting. So women who are older and overweight really need to put in even more hours either at the gym or doing activities. Otherwise, as we age, we need to gradually decrease the amount of calories we are consuming to avoid gaining weight into our golden years.
This research that was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association really points out what we here at Burn Fat Club already know. There is no easy fix. Exercise and watching what you eat are the keys to weight loss success. However, there are some exercises and programs that can guide you along the way and keep you focused on your goals.
A research team at Princeton University has released their study which shows the dangers of high fructose corn syrup and obesity.
The study shows that “Rats with access to high-fructose corn syrup gained significantly more weight than those with access to table sugar, even when their overall caloric intake was the same.”
High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is found in a wide variety of foods, especially fast foods, but also in things like ketchup, BBQ sauce, breads, some canned fruits, and soda. Americans eat about 60 pounds of HFCS per person, per year. Since HFCS was introduced approximately 40 years ago, the obesity rate in America has grown from about 15% to 33%. Coincidence?
The study also showed that “In addition to causing significant weight gain in lab animals, long-term consumption of high-fructose corn syrup also led to abnormal increases in body fat, especially in the abdomen, and a rise in circulating blood fats called triglycerides.”
I don’t think people will consider those seemingly harmless ads that the HFCS folks have been airing on television anymore. This study truly shows the dangers of high fructose corn syrup on obesity and weight gain in the US.
You will find plenty of exercises to burn belly fat though these are simple and interesting to try out. If you are developing a rut due to your boring abdominal regimen and need more selections, these exercises can be what you are searching for.
Activity 1: Racquetball
A study reported in Self magazine explained that women who both dieted and did eighty mins of weight training or cardiovascular exercise per week were able to keep off abdominal fat or “deep, stomach” fat when compared with females who did not exercise. So cardiovascular exercise definitely matters when it comes to losing that dangerous fat that lies near our organs and contributes to a vast array of health conditions. An excellent cardiovascular exercise for dropping abdominal fat is racquetball. The greatest point is, one doesn’t have to understand the rules in the least to obtain an amazing cardiovascular workout. Get a good friend and get a court at a neighborhood fitness center (in most cases below $10 and includes gear rental). The basics are that your opponent has to strike the ball just before it bounces 2 times on the floor. You should have a fun time chasing across the court and as opposed to tennis, you won’t need to follow the ball too far simply because the court is fully enclosed!
Exercise to Burn Belly Fat 2: Planks In All Directions
To complete a plank, you just lay on the ground on your stomach. Put your forearms upon the ground below and lift the body upwards like you are doing a pushup, without the use of your hands, just your arms. Be sure that the body is set in a straight line and your backside is aligned with the neck. Keep this unique position for 20 secs. Relax the body and lower to the floor and rest for thirty secs. Then, repeat. This is certainly an awesome exercise for the abdominal muscles and definitely will assist you in getting the sexy appearance you are looking for. Nex, to make sure you change things around a bit, try to carry out the plank on a single arm. Twist the body so you are totally on your side and raise yourself up with one arm. You can actually set your other hand on your hips. This tends to exercise your obliques and lessen the love handles.
Exercise 3: A Brand New Style of Ab Crunch
Ab crunches usually are brutal and if you are carrying out a ton of them, oftentimes you would like a change of pace. Lie on your back and bend your knees but place your feet a tad bit more away from you than you normally would if you were executing a regular crunch. Set your hands and wrists at your sides, lift your upper body about an inch off the ground and try to touch the back of your left foot with your left hand. Bring back to center and next try to reach the backside of your right foot with your right hand. Jump into the beat of it and see how long you do it and maintain your upper body raised. This can be a fantastic activity because it is a lot of fun to do to an upbeat tune on your music player.
Now that you’ve got extra exercises to burn belly fat, you can start incorporating even more selections to your routines.
1. Trade your office chair for a fitness ball. Having to try to constantly balance yourself (it’s not THAT hard) will help you get your core muscles in shape. Also, you are in the perfect position to lie back anytime and do a few crunches here and there. Once the fat from your belly is gone, it will reveal the hot, toned abs underneath.
2. Stand up as often as you can. We all know about the spread that happens to our butts from too much sitting, so avoid that with standing, stretching, marching in place, anything you can think of to keep moving. Maybe you can even raise your keyboard if you work on a computer or get a headset to talk on the phone.
3. Keep equipment like weights, kettle balls and Stretch Bands nearby. You have lots of time to sneak in a quick exercise or two and it will probably make you MORE productive at work. Use the activity to keep you out of that 3:00 crash that always happens. Instead of your forehead hitting the desk at 3:00, grab the bands and do some quick stretches to revive your body, and mind.
With these few exercises for the office that can help you burn fat at work, you will be surprised how quickly a little activity can make a big difference.
